Richmond, VA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Virginia and Maryland, with snowfall expected to create hazardous travel conditions through Thursday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, VA, the advisory is in place from 6 a.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday for Fluvanna, Caroline, Western Hanover, and Louisa Counties in Virginia. Maryland’s Dorchester County will see the advisory extend until 6 p.m. Thursday. Snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches are expected in all affected areas.

Forecasters warn of slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially during Wednesday morning and evening commutes. In Maryland, wind gusts up to 35 mph could further impact driving conditions.

Residents are advised to slow down, use caution, and check 511 for updated road conditions. Officials recommend allowing extra travel time and preparing for delays.

This snowfall follows a period of fluctuating temperatures, and road treatment crews are expected to be active. Motorists should anticipate icy patches, particularly on bridges and untreated surfaces.

The advisory remains in effect until Thursday afternoon in Virginia and Thursday evening in Maryland. Travelers should monitor updates and adjust plans accordingly.
