Richmond, VA – Virginia remains under a flood warning as heavy rains push the James River at Richmond Locks above flood stage today, with minor flooding expected. Affected areas include Rocketts Landing Park and the Virginia Capital Trail, where rising water levels could impact roadways and public access. The flood warning will remain in place until late tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, the James River reached 10.1 feet early Wednesday, exceeding its bankfull stage of 8 feet. At these levels, flooding along Rocketts Landing and near the Capital Trail can worsen, impacting residents and motorists. Minor flooding is also predicted for the Appomattox River, affecting Farmville and Cumberland County.

Motorists are advised to avoid driving through flooded roads, particularly in low-lying areas. The public should stay alert for additional warnings and updates as conditions evolve. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks, as water levels may rise unexpectedly.
