Culpeper, VA – The National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington has issued a Freeze Warning for parts of northern and central Virginia, in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Friday.
The warning includes Culpeper, Fauquier, Clarke, Frederick, Madison, Page, Rappahannock, and Warren counties, where temperatures could fall as low as 29°F overnight. Forecasters caution that these conditions may damage or kill unprotected plants and crops and pose risks to outdoor plumbing.
Residents are urged to cover sensitive vegetation, drain or insulate pipes, and allow faucets to drip slowly to prevent freezing. The NWS advises taking action early Thursday evening as temperatures drop quickly after sunset.
This freeze event marks one of the coldest nights so far this fall across the Shenandoah region and northern Virginia foothills. Temperatures are expected to rise into the 50s Friday afternoon with a gradual warming trend into the weekend.
