Virginia – Virginia residents should prepare for a week of soaring temperatures and potential severe storms. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wakefield warns that highs will reach the mid-to-upper 90s on Wednesday and Thursday, marking the peak of this week’s heatwave.

Monday begins with temperatures nearing 90°F, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. These storms may bring strong to severe wind gusts, especially along and north of I-64.

According to NWS Wakefield, Tuesday’s forecast shows an even warmer day with highs reaching 91°F, setting the stage for an even hotter Wednesday, with temperatures expected to climb to 96°F. The intense heat will persist into Thursday, with highs again reaching the mid-90s. These conditions may increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, so precautions are advised.

Friday brings a slight cooldown, with temperatures dropping to the mid-80s. However, scattered thunderstorms are expected, potentially causing localized flooding. The weekend offers some relief, with highs in the upper 80s and mostly clear skies, making it ideal for outdoor activities.

Residents should stay updated on weather alerts and prepare for possible power outages due to storms and high winds.
