Annandale, VA – Snow showers are forecast for much of northern Virginia today, with freezing temperatures creating potential hazards for commuters along I-95 and surrounding routes. Drivers are urged to exercise caution as road conditions could become slick during afternoon and evening travel hours.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered snow showers are expected between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with little to no accumulation likely. Temperatures will peak near 36°F today before dropping to a chilly 27°F tonight under gradually clearing skies. Winds will remain light, but icy spots on untreated roadways are possible.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring sunny skies and highs near 40°F, but colder conditions are on the horizon. A wintry mix of rain and snow is possible Saturday morning, transitioning to rain later in the day. Saturday’s high will reach 45°F before dropping into the 20s that night.

Sunday presents the highest chance for snow accumulation, with a 40% likelihood of snow showers and a high near 37°F. Overnight lows will plummet to 17°F, and dangerously cold wind chills are expected into Monday. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be sunny but bitterly cold, with highs near 22°F.

Residents should prepare for a sharp temperature drop Sunday night, which could result in icy conditions through Tuesday morning. Keep an eye on updated forecasts and plan accordingly if traveling over the holiday weekend.
