Virginia Beach, VA – A Virginia Beach man was apprehended Wednesday morning following a tragic I-95 crash that ended a multi-state Amber Alert with the death of his one-year-old daughter. The incident began Tuesday night when Dana Plummer, 36, allegedly stabbed two female victims during a domestic dispute in the 900 block of Jay Are Court before fleeing with his three children.
Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers responded to the scene around 8:48 p.m., finding the victims, an adult and a juvenile, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both were transported to local hospitals and are currently in stable condition.
Plummer’s abduction of his children led to an Amber Alert issued by Virginia State Police (VSP). Early Wednesday morning, a vigilant citizen spotted the suspect’s vehicle, prompting a police pursuit along I-95 in Fairfax County. The chase continued into Maryland, where Plummer lost control of the vehicle on I-495, resulting in a crash.
While Plummer was apprehended at the scene, his one-year-old daughter, who was in the vehicle, was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries. The other two children, both boys, were found unharmed.
The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact VBPD’s Detective Bureau at 757-385-4101 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or P3tips.com.
