Victims of Banquet Shooting in Kankakee County Identified

Pembroke Township, IL – Authorities have identified the victims of a shooting at a local banquet hall late Friday night that resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries.

According to the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded at approximately 11:51 p.m. on Friday to reports of shots fired at 13100 E Central St. Upon arrival, deputies found large crowds fleeing from two parties at the hall. Five victims were discovered with gunshot wounds, two of whom were pronounced dead—one at the scene and another at a nearby hospital.

The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Edward E. Colon, 32, of Chicago, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and Milton J. Sykes, 44, of Kankakee, who succumbed to his injuries at Riverside Medical Center. Autopsies confirmed both died from multiple gunshot wounds.
