Essex Junction, VT – Vermont State Police continue to seek information on the 1982 unsolved homicide of Robert R. Gilson Jr. Gilson was found unresponsive in a sleeping bag at the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds on September 5, 1982. Gilson had been assisting a farmer with showing cattle at the fair.
According to police, his manner of death was ruled a homicide, but no suspect has been identified. Despite investigations, the case remains unsolved. Gilson’s murder has lingered for over 40 years without any resolution.
Authorities are asking anyone with details regarding Gilson’s death or other unsolved homicides to contact the Major Crimes Unit. Information can be submitted anonymously. Vermont State Police continue their efforts to bring closure to the Gilson family.
