Burlington, VT – A Wind Advisory is in effect for portions of northern Vermont and parts of neighboring New York starting at 2 PM today and lasting through 2 AM Sunday. The advisory covers eastern Clinton County in New York, as well as western Chittenden and western Franklin counties in Vermont.
South winds are expected to increase to 20-30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, especially in the northern Champlain Valley. These conditions could lead to isolated power outages and hazardous driving conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
According to the National Weather Service, the strongest gusts are likely to occur this afternoon and continue into the overnight hours. In addition, rain is expected to develop later today and continue into the evening, potentially adding to the challenge of driving in these windy conditions.
Residents in the affected areas are urged to secure outdoor objects and exercise caution while traveling, especially on highways and roads prone to gusty conditions.
