Burlington, Vermont – Sweltering summer heat will scorch much of Vermont on Tuesday, with a 105° heat index expected by mid-afternoon in Burlington and surrounding Champlain Valley towns.

Heat-related illnesses are likely if precautions aren’t taken. Residents are urged to avoid strenuous outdoor activity from late morning through evening, especially those without access to air conditioning. Hydrate frequently and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Tuesday’s high in Burlington is forecast at 96°F, with real-feel temperatures soaring to 105°F due to oppressive humidity. Light south winds of 3–8 mph will offer little relief. The risk for isolated afternoon thunderstorms exists, but rainfall will be minimal.
