Burlington, VT – A mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow continues to impact much of northern Vermont and parts of northern New York Sunday, making spring travel treacherous across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT Sunday, with dangerous conditions reported along U.S. Route 7 and other major roadways. Motorists should expect slick pavement, especially in sheltered valleys where temperatures are struggling to rise above freezing.

Additional ice accumulation could reach up to a tenth of an inch, with less than one inch of snow expected in most areas. Temperatures will hover in the low 30s across eastern Vermont, prolonging the threat of ice through the evening.

Plan to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check conditions at 511NY.org for New York and NewEngland511.org for Vermont updates.

Looking ahead to Monday, March 31, rain showers will return with temperatures climbing into the low 60s. Monday night brings scattered showers and lows around 30°F.
