Burlington, VT – Snowfall is set to blanket parts of Vermont this evening, making for dangerous travel conditions across the region. The National Weather Service warns that snow will quickly overspread the area between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., creating slick roads and poor visibility for drivers.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for central and northwest Vermont, including Burlington and surrounding areas. The heaviest snowfall is expected during the evening commute, with accumulations of up to an inch possible by midnight. Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and allow extra time for travel, particularly on I-89 and other major roadways.

After tonight’s snow, precipitation will transition to rain early Tuesday morning. Temperatures will rise into the 40s by Tuesday afternoon, leading to potential ice melt and water pooling on roads. By Wednesday, heavier rain could create localized flooding concerns as rivers and streams swell.

A colder pattern will return Thursday, bringing another chance for snow and a drop in temperatures, with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens. Residents in higher elevations may see additional snow accumulation.
