Burlington, VT – A Freeze Watch has been issued for parts of northern New York and Vermont, with sub-freezing temperatures possible late Friday night into Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, overnight lows could fall to 25 degrees in Southern Franklin and Western Clinton Counties in New York, as well as Essex County, Vermont. The alert will remain in effect from midnight Friday through early Saturday.

Forecasters warn that frost and freeze conditions may kill crops, damage sensitive plants, and potentially affect unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to cover or bring in tender vegetation and take precautions to prevent damage to pipes and garden equipment.

The affected region includes communities such as Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Dannemora, and Island Pond. Gardeners and farmers in the Adirondacks and Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom are urged to prepare for the first hard freeze of the season.
