Clinton, IN – A burglary at M&M Mower Shop in Clinton resulted in the theft of $9,000 worth of tools. Police arrested a suspect last week following a multi-agency investigation.
According to the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office, the break-in occurred December 4. Store owners discovered the front door had been pried open, and chainsaws, leaf blowers, and chop saws were missing.
On December 7, deputies recovered a chainsaw and leaf blower at a residence in Paris, Illinois. One individual with an outstanding Edgar County warrant was arrested. Paris Police are coordinating charges with the State’s Attorney.
By December 12, additional information led deputies to a suspect in Terre Haute, Indiana. Officers arrested the individual hiding in his residence. Police recovered more stolen tools, including a chainsaw and engine, and found methamphetamine. The suspect was transported to Vigo County Jail.
Authorities are still searching for two Stihl chop saws and one Stihl chainsaw. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office at 765-492-3838.
This investigation is ongoing as officials continue efforts to locate the remaining stolen tools.
