Salt Lake City, UT – Winter has arrived early in Utah as frigid temperatures and snow grip the region this weekend. Sunday’s high in Salt Lake City is expected to hit just 44°F, while overnight lows will dip into the 20s. These conditions follow Saturday’s snow and freezing rain, creating potentially hazardous road conditions, especially along I-15 and mountain passes.

According to the National Weather Service, lingering snow showers will taper off by Sunday morning, but icy patches could persist on roads. Motorists should use caution while traveling, especially during early morning hours when freezing temperatures are most severe. The agency advises carrying an emergency kit and checking road conditions frequently.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast shows temperatures will remain below seasonal norms. Monday will bring another chance of snow, with highs near 41°F and additional light accumulation possible. Overnight lows Monday night will drop to 23°F.

By Tuesday, skies are expected to clear, but cold temperatures will continue, with highs only reaching 35°F. Partly cloudy conditions will dominate the midweek, with lows nearing the teens on Tuesday night.
