Spokane, WA – A dense fog advisory is in effect this morning for Spokane and surrounding areas, creating hazardous driving conditions along I-90 and throughout the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene metro region. Travelers are urged to exercise caution as visibility could drop to less than a quarter mile in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy freezing fog is expected to linger until noon Saturday, particularly in valleys, along rivers, and near lakes in northeastern Washington and northern Idaho. Temperatures remain around 37 degrees, with freezing fog forming overnight as lows dipped to 29 degrees. Roads and bridges may be slick, making travel treacherous for early morning commuters.

Drivers should allow extra time for travel, use low beams, and reduce speed, especially in dense fog-prone areas. The freezing fog will give way to partly sunny conditions by mid-afternoon, with highs reaching 42 degrees.

Looking ahead, rain is expected Saturday night, transitioning to snow by early Sunday morning as temperatures drop to 31 degrees. Sunday will see rain and snow showers continuing, with highs near 47 degrees and gusts up to 21 mph. Snowfall is likely Sunday night, with accumulation expected in higher elevations.

The upcoming week brings a mix of rain and snow chances Monday and Tuesday, with highs hovering around 42 degrees and overnight lows in the 20s. Residents should monitor local weather updates for changing conditions.
