Salt Lake City, Utah – Scattered showers and cooler temperatures will linger across Salt Lake City and much of northern Utah through Thursday night, prompting residents to prepare for damp roads and brisk evenings.

According to the National Weather Service, Salt Lake City faces a 20% chance of rain overnight, with a stronger 40% chance of showers arriving Thursday afternoon into the evening. Temperatures will dip to the upper 40s each night, while daytime highs remain mild—reaching the low 70s on Wednesday and Thursday.

Drivers across Salt Lake, Davis, and Weber counties may encounter slick streets, especially during early morning and evening commutes. Showers could briefly impact I-15, I-80, and surface streets in downtown Salt Lake City. Residents in West Valley City, Sandy, and Ogden should plan for clouds and intermittent rain, with wind gusts shifting to the northwest as storms move through.

The National Weather Service recommends keeping rain gear handy, checking headlights before heading out, and watching for reduced visibility on highways. With cooler nights ahead, outdoor plans and high-elevation travel may require extra layers.

Rain chances diminish by Friday, with sunnier skies and highs near 76°F expected to return to the Wasatch Front. Additional weather statements could follow if conditions shift.
