Denver, Colorado – Strong thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds are expected to sweep across northeast and north central Colorado, putting Denver and surrounding communities on alert through Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and evening, especially over the eastern plains. Storms could bring heavy rain, wind gusts over 20 mph, and pockets of large hail—impacting travel along I-25 and major routes through Denver, Weld, and Adams counties. Residents in Jackson, Larimer, and Boulder counties should also watch for rapid changes in weather, as conditions may shift quickly from dry to severe.

Denver’s temperature will reach a high near 68°F today, before dropping to the mid-40s overnight. Showers and possible thunderstorms will persist into Thursday and Friday, raising the risk of power outages and localized flooding. The National Weather Service warns of increased fire danger by the weekend as warmer, drier air returns.

Drivers should plan for slick roads and delays during afternoon and evening commutes. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during storms, and report any hail or wind damage to local authorities.

Weather alerts remain in effect through Friday, with additional advisories possible as conditions evolve. Stay tuned for updates and take precautions as severe weather continues across the region.
