Bright sunshine spreads across northern Utah today with calm winds and excellent visibility along Interstate 15, I-80, and I-215 through the morning commute. Temperatures climb into the low 50s this afternoon, offering a cool but comfortable start to the day.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, dry high pressure will dominate the region through the end of the workweek. That pattern pushes temperatures steadily higher across the Salt Lake Valley.
By Friday, March 13, afternoon highs reach around 68°F, nearly 15 degrees warmer than earlier in the week. The warmer air will bring classic early-spring conditions, with bright sun, light winds, and excellent travel conditions across northern Utah.
For many residents and spring break travelers heading toward Utah’s national parks, the end of the week may offer ideal outdoor weather. Expect comfortable afternoons and cool evenings across the Wasatch Front.
However, a subtle change begins late Saturday. Increasing clouds may move in during the afternoon as the next Pacific system approaches the Great Basin.
Light rain becomes possible Saturday afternoon into Saturday night, with temperatures falling back into the mid-60s during the day and near 40°F overnight. Higher elevations along the Wasatch Mountains could also see light snow showers.
Drivers heading into the mountains should watch for changing road conditions on I-80 through Parleys Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon roads if precipitation develops.
Meteorologists are also watching for a broader warm trend across the West next week, with temperatures potentially climbing into the 70s again by early next week.
