Salt Lake City, UT – A series of fast-moving storm systems will bring rain, snow, and potential travel disruptions across Utah starting Thursday afternoon. The National Weather Service warns of light snow in the northern and central mountains, with accumulations of 2 to 6 inches expected through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation begins Thursday afternoon, increasing after 2 p.m. Rain will likely turn to snow in the evening, with higher snowfall concentrated in the mountains. Light snow accumulation in northern Utah valleys could impact Friday’s morning commute, so drivers should plan extra travel time. Major roadways, including I-15 and I-80, may experience slick conditions.

Friday will bring lingering snow before skies clear slightly by evening. Highs are expected to hover near 42°F, while overnight lows drop to 29°F. By Saturday, residents can expect partly sunny skies and highs nearing 49°F, though another round of rain and snow is forecast for Saturday night into Sunday.

The weekend storm system could bring more significant snow to northern Utah’s higher elevations. If you’re planning travel, monitor local forecasts for updates. Early next week, a third storm may continue the pattern of unsettled weather, though exact impacts remain uncertain.

Be prepared for fluctuating road conditions and potential delays. Check tire tread and pack emergency supplies before heading into mountainous areas.
