Salt Lake City, UT – Temperatures dropping into the 20s overnight are putting crops, gardens, and plumbing at risk across northern and central Utah, with freezing conditions already impacting the Friday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, a Freeze Warning remains in effect until 9 a.m. Friday, with temperatures falling into the mid-20s to low 30s along the Wasatch Front, including Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Provo . Even colder readings in the Rush Valley could dip into the mid-teens.

A second Freeze Warning begins at 8 p.m. Friday and lasts through Saturday morning, bringing another round of subfreezing temperatures across Tooele Valley, Utah Valley, and areas near the San Rafael Swell and Canyonlands.

Urban and agricultural areas alike face impacts, especially in low-lying regions where cold air settles. Sensitive plants may suffer damage or die, while exposed pipes and irrigation systems could freeze.

Residents should cover plants, drain sprinkler systems, and insulate outdoor plumbing. Freezing conditions will return again late Friday night, and additional alerts may follow as cold temperatures persist into the weekend.
