Salt Lake City, UT – Red Flag Warnings have been extended through Monday across central and southern Utah, indicating critical fire weather conditions. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City issued the alert due to gusty southwesterly winds and extremely low humidity levels.

According to the NWS, wind gusts are expected to reach up to 35 mph on Saturday, decreasing slightly to 30 mph on Sunday and Monday. Combined with humidity levels as low as 6%, these conditions create an elevated risk for wildfires. The affected zones are primarily west of the Green River, including areas that typically see major to extreme weather risks.

The warning, which started Saturday morning, will remain in effect through Monday evening. Residents and visitors are urged to follow local fire restrictions and exercise extreme caution with campfires or activities that could spark flames. The NWS highlights that the risk is categorized from moderate to extreme, emphasizing the potential severity of any fires that may ignite.
