Fort Wayne, IN – Fall weather is settling in across northern Indiana this week, bringing cooler temperatures, gusty winds, and periodic rain showers, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Northern Indiana.
Forecasters say highs will hold in the low 60s today with wind gusts reaching 35 mph and scattered showers. Monday will bring a brief break in the rain with sunshine and milder temperatures before another round of wind and rain returns Tuesday and Wednesday, particularly for communities north of U.S. 30.
By midweek, temperatures will drop even further, with highs in the low 50s and overnight lows dipping into the 30s. The NWS warns that a widespread frost or freeze is likely Thursday night as cold air settles into the region.
Meteorologists advise residents to secure outdoor items ahead of the gusty winds and to prepare gardens and sensitive plants for colder overnight temperatures later in the week.
