Birmingham, Alabama – A heat advisory is now in effect across Central Alabama, warning residents of dangerously high heat index values up to 107°F from 11 a.m. Monday through 9 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service issued the alert late Sunday evening, urging locals to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, especially during outdoor activities.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory includes areas such as Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Selma, Demopolis, and Hamilton, spanning 13 counties. The intense heat will be accompanied by high humidity, making the conditions feel even hotter. Vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and pets, should avoid prolonged exposure to the heat.
The heat advisory encompasses Autauga, Bibb, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties. Residents are advised to drink plenty of water, stay indoors when possible, and avoid the sun during peak hours. Anyone working outdoors should reschedule strenuous activities to early mornings or evenings, and wear loose, light-colored clothing.
