Urbana, IL – Two drivers were hospitalized following a collision at Cunningham Avenue and Perkins Road on Saturday morning.
Police responded to the crash at 8:12 a.m., involving a blue Chevrolet truck and a gold Ford Explorer. Authorities said the Chevrolet sped northbound on Cunningham while the Ford turned onto Perkins with the right of way. The Chevrolet struck the Ford and a light pole, ejecting the truck’s driver. Both vehicles suffered significant damage.
Police identified the Chevrolet driver as 21-year-old William Daniel Melendez-Scott of Champaign. He was cited for DUI and running a traffic signal. He remains in critical but stable condition. The Ford driver was treated and released from the hospital.
