East Fishkill, NY – A routine traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway in Dutchess County led to the discovery of more than 160 grams of cocaine Monday afternoon, according to New York State Police.

The stop occurred on December 1, 2025, at approximately 12:27 p.m., when members of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit pulled over a vehicle traveling northbound in East Fishkill for multiple alleged violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

According to State Police, the driver was identified as Kasein Deleston, 52, of Brooklyn, who allegedly showed indicators that prompted troopers to investigate further. A State Police K-9 named Vinn conducted an exterior scan of the vehicle and reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics.

A subsequent search uncovered a hidden compartment containing approximately 162.6 grams of cocaine, police said.

Troopers stated that Deleston was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, a class B felony.

Deleston was arraigned in East Fishkill Town Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 5, 2025, at 2 p.m.

Residents who frequently travel the Taconic State Parkway are encouraged to remain aware of increased enforcement patrols in the region.
