Binghamton, NY – A cold front continues to move through New York state today, bringing a lingering chance of showers and thunderstorms, particularly east of Interstate 81. Some of these storms could produce damaging gusts and localized flash flooding, especially in areas that have already seen significant rainfall over the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, an abrupt early taste of fall is expected to arrive over the next few days. Daytime highs across the region will dip into the mid to upper 60s through Wednesday, with overnight lows plunging into the mid-40s to lower 50s, a marked contrast to the summer heat of recent weeks.

The cooler pattern is expected to persist until Thursday, when temperatures will begin to rebound slightly, reaching the low to mid-70s by Friday. The weekend outlook shows a gradual warming trend, with highs returning to the upper 70s and low 80s by Saturday and Sunday. Despite the warming trend, the risk of severe weather will diminish later in the week, offering more stable conditions for the weekend. Residents should remain alert for changing conditions, especially in areas prone to flash flooding.
