Binghamton, NY – Residents across Central New York are facing a wintry blast this weekend, with up to 4 inches of snow and below-zero wind chills expected. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories for the region, including Cortland, Tompkins, and Onondaga counties, lasting through early Sunday morning.

According to the NWS, lake effect snow and gusty winds of up to 20 mph will create hazardous travel conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Snowfall is expected to intensify Saturday afternoon and evening, with temperatures dropping into the single digits overnight. Wind chills will make it feel even colder, dipping below zero in many areas.

Residents are urged to use caution when traveling and to prepare for slippery roads and icy surfaces. Officials recommend slowing down, allowing extra time for commutes, and dressing in layers if venturing outdoors.

Cold weather is forecast to continue into Sunday, with mostly sunny skies but a high near 18°F. Additional snow showers are possible on Monday night into Tuesday.
