Charleston, WV – Drivers in several West Virginia counties should prepare for slippery conditions as snow continues through Saturday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective until 1 p.m.
According to the advisory, areas including Northwest Pocahontas, Southeast Randolph, and Southeast Webster Counties could see up to two inches of additional snow. Gusty winds up to 35 mph will further complicate travel. Surrounding counties like Southeast Raleigh, Southeast Fayette, and Northwest Webster are also expected to receive similar snowfall totals, heightening risks on local roadways.
The advisory urges residents to slow down and use caution while traveling, particularly in elevated areas prone to heavier snow accumulation. Officials recommend monitoring road conditions by calling 511 or checking the latest updates on the National Weather Service website.
Snow is expected to taper off by early afternoon as skies begin clearing. Sunday promises a return to sunny, calm weather with temperatures near freezing. However, officials warn drivers to remain cautious on untreated roads that may refreeze overnight.
