Marquette, MI – Snowfall will continue to blanket Michigan’s Upper Peninsula through Monday afternoon, with road conditions expected to remain hazardous in several counties, including Marquette and Ontonagon.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 2 p.m. EDT Monday for Ontonagon, Southern Houghton, Baraga, and Marquette counties. These areas could see an additional 2 to 5 inches of snow, with slippery conditions likely during the Monday morning commute.
Delta County, including Escanaba and Gladstone, is under a separate advisory until 8 a.m., with 2 to 4 inches of additional accumulation forecast. Meanwhile, Alger, Luce, and both Northern and Southern Schoolcraft counties are expected to receive 2 to 4 inches through 11 a.m. Monday.
The snow, falling on cold pavement and potentially untreated roads, is expected to disrupt travel throughout the region. Residents are advised to slow down and allow extra travel time, especially during morning hours.
March snowfalls are not uncommon in the U.P., but commuters should remain cautious as temperatures hover near freezing. Authorities urge drivers to remain alert and check for local road updates before traveling.
