Marquette, Mich. – Sunshine and dry weather will dominate Upper Michigan through Friday, with cooler temperatures giving way to a late-week warm-up before storms arrive this weekend. Interior highs today will reach 67 to 77 degrees, while areas along Lake Superior stay cooler at 63 to 68 degrees under hazy, partly cloudy skies.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, Thursday will bring mostly sunny conditions with highs in the low 70s to low 80s. By Friday, warmer air pushes temperatures into the upper 70s to upper 80s, but clouds will increase and showers and storms are expected to develop overnight.

Communities from Ironwood to Sault Ste. Marie could see heavier downpours and possible thunder Saturday, with highs ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s. Boaters on Lake Superior should use caution, as winds and waves may increase ahead of storms.

Travelers are encouraged to take advantage of the next two dry days for outdoor plans and road work. Keep phones charged and secure loose outdoor items ahead of Saturday’s stormy conditions. Additional advisories may be issued as the weekend system approaches.
