SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Users of the popular artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT are experiencing widespread issues this morning as parent company OpenAI appears to be suffering a major outage.
According to the online outage tracker Downdetector, user reports of problems began to surge early Tuesday. The site showed a significant spike in reported issues beginning around 4 a.m. CDT, escalating to over 1,500 reports by 8 a.m. The overwhelming majority of the problems, approximately 92%, were related to the main ChatGPT service. An additional 7% of users reported problems with the mobile application, while 1% had issues with logging into the service.
