Two Tennessee High Students Arrested for Threats of Mass Violence

Knoxville, TN – Juvenile and Major Crimes detectives from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to threats made Friday at Halls Middle School and High School in North Knox County. Two students were arrested following the investigation.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 14-year-old student was taken into custody around noon and transported to Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Facility. Later in the afternoon, 18-year-old Charles McCarter was arrested and taken to the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility. Both students face charges related to alleged threats of mass violence.

Additional threats are under investigation, with support from several law enforcement agencies, including Tennessee Homeland Security and Knoxville Police.

Sheriff Tom Spangler emphasized the seriousness of school threats, stating, “We will take every threat seriously… there will be consequences for this behavior.”
