Indianapolis, IN – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested two juveniles on October 17 in connection with a September homicide.
IMPD’s Violent Crimes Unit, assisted by SWAT officers, took a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old into custody. They both face preliminary charges of murder for their alleged roles in the shooting death of 38-year-old Jerry Thompson, Jr.
According to the IMPD, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 7600 block of Beverly Hills Drive on September 15. Upon arrival, they discovered Thompson in the hallway of an apartment building with gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Two persons of interest were initially detained and released after interviews. Following further investigation, warrants were issued for the teens’ arrests.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final decision on charges. Both juveniles remain innocent unless proven guilty in court.
