Minneapolis, Minnesota – Umbrellas and rain boots will be a must across the Twin Cities as steady showers move in Monday, with widespread rainfall expected to linger through Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, rain will gradually spread from the southwest today, becoming widespread by late afternoon. The wet weather pattern will persist through Tuesday before tapering off Wednesday morning. Daytime highs will range from the low 50s to low 60s, while overnight lows could dip into the 40s.

The rain may impact commutes across major metro routes including I-94, I-35W, and Highway 62, particularly during the Tuesday morning and evening rush hours. Urban areas like Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, and Eagan may see ponding on roads and reduced visibility. Residents are urged to drive slowly and allow extra travel time.

With soils already damp and temps trending cool, localized street flooding may occur in low-lying areas. Keep storm drains clear and avoid walking or driving through water-covered roads.

Conditions are expected to dry out by Wednesday afternoon, with warmer and sunnier weather returning by the weekend. Another round of showers is not expected before Friday, but updated advisories may be issued.
