Minneapolis, Minnesota – Dangerous heat will continue across Minnesota and western Wisconsin through Tuesday, with the Twin Cities facing the highest risk as heat index values climb above 100 degrees during the hottest part of the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, an Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for the Twin Cities metropolitan area through Tuesday evening, while Heat Advisories cover much of central and southern Minnesota and portions of western Wisconsin. Even areas outside the warning zone are expected to experience heat index values between 95 and 100 degrees.

Afternoon high temperatures will reach the lower to middle 90s across much of the region Monday and Tuesday. Humidity will make it feel even hotter, with forecast heat index values peaking between 97 and 100 degrees, and locally higher in the Twin Cities. Overnight lows will only fall into the low to mid-70s, providing limited relief and allowing heat stress to build over consecutive days.

Communities including Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Cloud, Mankato, Willmar, Redwood Falls, Alexandria, Eau Claire and Rice Lake should prepare for dangerous conditions, particularly during the afternoon and early evening.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity, take frequent breaks in air-conditioned spaces and check on older adults, young children and neighbors without reliable cooling. Never leave children or pets unattended in parked vehicles.

Warnings and advisories remain in effect through Tuesday evening, and additional heat-related updates will be issued if dangerous conditions persist.
