Twin Cities, MN – Strong winds and dry air are combining to create an elevated fire weather risk across parts of western and central Minnesota this Saturday, according to the US National Weather Service Twin Cities Minnesota.
Forecasters say wind gusts could exceed 35 mph throughout the day, particularly west of the Twin Cities, where dry ground and low humidity will increase the chance of rapid fire spread. Highs are expected to range from 65 to 70°F, with increasing clouds later in the day.
On Sunday, a cold front will move across the state, bringing scattered rain showers and continued gusty winds, especially in western Minnesota. Highs will stay mild, between 66 and 76°F, before cooling begins Monday.
By Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will dip into the 50s and 60s, marking the coolest stretch of the upcoming week. Despite the passing front, no soaking rain is expected, and fire danger could persist into early next week.
Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning this weekend and stay alert for changing fire conditions as winds strengthen statewide.
