Tuskegee, AL – A shooting on the Tuskegee University campus early Sunday left one dead and 16 others injured, sparking an intense investigation. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported the incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m., with Special Agents responding after multiple people were shot. Authorities confirmed the death of an 18-year-old juvenile at the scene.

ALEA officials stated that twelve individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to nearby hospitals in Montgomery and Lee counties. Four additional people suffered non-gunfire-related injuries during the incident.

Tuskegee University has canceled classes for Monday, Nov. 11, to allow law enforcement to complete its investigation. University officials have arranged for grief counselors to be available to students at the chapel on Monday.
