Tulsa, OK – Spotty showers and isolated thunderstorms could briefly slow traffic along I-44 and US-75 today as a cold front pushes south across northeast Oklahoma before midnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, rain chances range from 10% to 40% through late Saturday night as a weak upper-level disturbance moves across the region. The highest coverage is expected from mid-morning through early evening, with activity gradually shifting south overnight.

Rainfall totals will remain light. Most communities across Tulsa County and surrounding areas, including Broken Arrow, Owasso and Sand Springs, will see only a few hundredths to a quarter inch of rain. Severe storms and flooding are not expected.

Drivers along the Creek Turnpike and US-412 should prepare for brief downpours that could reduce visibility and create slick spots, especially during heavier showers. While widespread lightning is unlikely, isolated rumbles of thunder may accompany stronger cells.

Temperatures will trend cooler behind the front. Afternoon highs in the 60s Saturday will ease back Sunday, with a noticeable drop of around 10 to 15 degrees compared to earlier warmth this week.

The front continues south into northwest Arkansas by midday, gradually ending rain chances in northeast Oklahoma overnight. Roads should dry out quickly Sunday as precipitation exits the region.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down in heavier showers and keep headlights on during reduced visibility. Additional updates will be issued if storm coverage becomes more widespread than anticipated.
