Pueblo, CO – Temperatures are climbing into the 70s across southern Colorado this afternoon, creating rapid snowmelt along Interstate 25 before a quick cooldown arrives by early Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, highs across the Plains will reach between 66 and 74 degrees Saturday under sunny skies. Pueblo, Canon City and areas along the I-25 corridor will feel springlike warmth through late afternoon, while the San Luis Valley and mountain valleys hold in the lower 60s.
Conditions shift after sunset. A weak cold front drops south overnight, trimming highs Sunday back into the upper 50s to near 60 degrees across Pueblo County. Overnight lows in the 20s and lower 30s across higher elevations could refreeze melted moisture on bridges along CO-96 and stretches of US-50 before 8 a.m. Sunday.
While most lower elevations stay dry, isolated snow showers may develop over the central mountains late Saturday night. Travelers heading west on US-160 toward La Veta Pass should watch for brief visibility reductions if showers form.
By Monday afternoon, temperatures rebound quickly. Highs return to the upper 60s and near 70 degrees along I-25, renewing dry conditions across much of southern Colorado.
Drivers should remain alert for overnight refreeze in colder valleys and higher terrain. The warming trend early next week may accelerate snowmelt in mountain areas, leading to minor runoff near road shoulders. Additional updates are possible if mountain snow coverage expands.
