Tulsa, Oklahoma — Fire weather concerns are expected to develop midweek as gusty winds and dry conditions move into the Tulsa area, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service in Tulsa said above-average temperatures will continue today, with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s. A cold front is expected to move through the region Wednesday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures but little rainfall.

Forecasters reported low rain chances late tonight into Wednesday, mainly affecting far northeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas, with most of the Tulsa area expected to remain dry. Rain chances generally remain below 20% through the end of the week.

Behind the front, gusty winds and much drier air are expected from Wednesday through Friday, increasing the risk for elevated fire weather conditions. Afternoon relative humidity values are forecast to drop, while winds increase, creating conditions favorable for rapid fire spread.

Daytime highs in Tulsa are expected to fall back closer to seasonal levels, with highs ranging from the upper 40s to low 50s by Thursday and Friday, and overnight lows dropping into the 20s to low 30s.

No formal fire weather warnings are currently in effect, but officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarettes, and secure chains or equipment that could spark fires during windy conditions.

This pattern may be especially relevant for commuters, outdoor workers, and residents in grassland or rural areas west and south of Tulsa.
