A dense fog advisory is in effect for eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas until 9 a.m. Friday, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, visibility has dropped to less than one-quarter mile in areas including Tulsa, Muskogee, Fort Smith, and McAlester. The advisory covers multiple counties across both states, including Crawford, Sebastian, Osage, Rogers, and Le Flore.

Drivers should use caution, keep headlights on low beam, and allow extra travel time due to rapidly changing visibility conditions. The advisory warns that sudden drops in visibility could make roads especially dangerous for early morning commuters.

The fog is expected to dissipate later in the morning as temperatures rise. Motorists can check with the Oklahoma and Arkansas Departments of Transportation for real-time road conditions.
