Melbourne, FL – As a tropical system in the northwest Caribbean develops with a 90% chance of formation, Central Florida is keeping a close eye on potential impacts. Although the system is expected to track further west into the Gulf of Mexico, residents of Melbourne should prepare for periods of increased rain and windy conditions starting Wednesday night. The US National Weather Service in Melbourne has highlighted the system’s potential to bring heavy rains to parts of Central Florida through early Friday.
Currently, Melbourne is enjoying partly cloudy skies with highs near 88°F through Tuesday, but as the tropical system strengthens and moves north, local weather will shift by midweek. According to forecasters, rain chances will rise to 40% by Wednesday, with heavier showers expected Thursday and Friday as the storm moves into the Gulf. Wind gusts may also pick up during this period.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather alerts and secure outdoor items ahead of the midweek rains. While Melbourne is not in the direct path of the storm, those traveling westward or near coastal areas should monitor conditions closely. The National Weather Service advises having hurricane kits ready, as peak hurricane season is well underway.
