Tragic I-65 Crash Claims Life of Valparaiso Woman in Jasper County

Crown Point, IN – A Valparaiso woman has died following a motor vehicle accident on I-65 in Jasper County. The Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the deceased as 64-year-old Debra Bordelon of Valparaiso. The incident occurred on Saturday at mile marker 209.

Emergency medical personnel transported Bordelon to Franciscan Health Crown Point Emergency Room. She was pronounced dead at 9:13 p.m. by an emergency room physician. The cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force traumatic injuries.

According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, a forensic autopsy was performed on Monday at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point. Indiana State Police, Jasper County Fire Department, and Jasper County EMS responded to the incident.

This accident is part of a broader investigation into road safety along I-65, a heavily trafficked highway. Indiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the accident.
