Tinley Park, IL – Portions of 171st Street in Tinley Park will be closed beginning Monday as village crews begin a major water main replacement project expected to impact traffic throughout the week.
According to the Village of Tinley Park, the affected area stretches from New England Avenue to just west of 70th Avenue. Crews will begin work Monday, June 9, and continue through Friday, June 13. Construction will proceed from the north end of 171st Street southward, eventually impacting all four lanes.
At least one lane of traffic in each direction will remain open at all times. However, shifting traffic patterns are anticipated as workers advance along the route.
Crews will use cold patch materials during the project, which is part of Tinley Park’s ongoing infrastructure improvement initiatives. Motorists are encouraged to use caution and allow extra travel time in the area.
