Orlando, FL – A tornado warning remains in effect until 9 a.m. EDT for southwestern Lake and west-central Orange counties as a severe thunderstorm moves through the area.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, at 8:46 a.m., radar indicated rotation within a storm near Groveland, moving northeast at 40 mph. The storm is capable of producing a tornado, with potential impacts including flying debris, structural damage, and tree destruction.
Communities at risk include Groveland, Mascotte, Clermont, and Howey-in-the-Hills, with Lake Apopka also in the storm’s path. Residents in these areas are urged to seek shelter immediately.
