Winter Storm Warning: Up to 19 Inches of Snow Expected in Northern California

Mount Shasta, CA – A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for parts of Siskiyou County from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday, with heavy snow and strong winds expected to impact travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, snowfall could reach between 8 and 19 inches, with wind gusts as high as 50 mph. Affected areas include Interstate 5 south of Weed, Highway 97 northeast of Weed, and Sawyers Bar Road west of Etna. Cities such as Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir, McCloud, and Bray are expected to be hit hardest.

Officials warn that travel may become difficult to impossible, especially during the morning and evening commutes. Motorists are urged to carry emergency supplies and check Caltrans QuickMap (quickmap.dot.ca.gov) for road updates.
