Tornado Threat in Mid-South as Hurricane Francine Heads Inland Thursday

Memphis, TN – Tornadoes may impact parts of Tennessee and Mississippi as Hurricane Francine moves inland. Strong winds and heavy rainfall are expected, creating dangerous conditions across the Mid-South.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, effects from Hurricane Francine will begin late Wednesday night and continue into Thursday. Isolated quick spin-up tornadoes could form in northeastern Mississippi and surrounding areas. Winds are expected to reach up to 100 mph, with the storm tracking northeast at 17 mph.

Local emergency services are urging residents to prepare for possible severe weather and monitor the forecast closely. Flash flooding is also a concern due to the heavy rain forecasted for the region. The highest risk for tornadoes will be on Thursday morning as the storm moves inland.
