Tornado Confirmed in Cedar Lake to Crown Point Track During 48-Hour Storm

Crown Point, IN – The recent 48-hour storm system that affected the Midwest has been confirmed to have produced a tornado in the Cedar Lake to Crown Point area. The National Weather Service (NWS) provided this update following detailed damage assessments.

According to the NWS, the tornado that hit Cedar Lake and extended to Crown Point occurred on July 15th, between 9:52 PM and 10:20 PM CDT. This tornado has been rated as an EF-1, with estimated peak winds reaching 90 mph. The path of the tornado stretched for 29.1 miles, with a maximum width of 300 yards. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported as a result of this tornado.

The NWS continues to analyze the impacts of the storm, which is part of a larger weather event that produced a total of 28 tornadoes across the region. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as cleanup and recovery efforts continue.
