Thunderstorms Expected in Colorado Today with Potential Hail and Heavy Rain

Denver, CO – Elevated moisture levels will increase the chances for showers and thunderstorms this afternoon across the higher elevations and the I-25 corridor. Some of these storms may bring small hail, localized heavy rainfall in the mountains, and gusty outflow winds reaching up to 40-50 mph.

According to the US National Weather Service Denver/Boulder, the storms are expected to develop early this afternoon and continue into the evening. The high temperature in Denver is forecasted to reach 91°F, with a 50% chance of precipitation by 2 PM. Other areas, including Fort Collins and Greeley, may also see storm activity with temperatures in the high 80s to low 90s.

For the weekend, Saturday will be partly sunny with a high of 91°F, while Sunday is expected to be sunny and much warmer, with temperatures soaring to 96°F. The heat wave will persist into next week, with highs climbing to 97°F on Monday and nearing 100°F by Wednesday.

Residents are advised to stay informed about the weather conditions and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall and high winds. The air quality index in Denver is currently moderate at 99, which is similar to yesterday.
